Innovating Support
for the Homeless
with Technology
It is estimated that about 2% of the world’s population is homeless, with numbers rising globally. In the U.S., homelessness has increased by approximately 6% annually since 2017, reaching nearly 700,000 people today.
As the homeless population grows, our connection with them has been diminishing. In an increasingly cashless society, and where digital interactions overshadow face-to-face ones, engagement and donations to the street population have become increasingly rare.
Strit is a digital platform designed to enhance the visibility and financial support for homeless individuals within their communities through an online presence that they can promote themselves locally via QR-code, facilitating interactions and simplifying cashless donations.
Strit is under development and will gradually incorporate new functionalities. Ultimately, the aim is to develop Strit into a full-fledged free, white-label application that can be adopted by any homeless organization worldwide.
Strit is proudly supported by the Harvard Innovation Labs
Developed by Eduardo Hegenberg, web developer, Digital Media Design candidate at Harvard DCE, and homeless advocate in São Paulo, Brazil, where over 60.000 unhoused live in.
